Women's Football Writers Festival - Keynote Speakers Announced!

Women Onside Everywhere

We are putting the finishing touches on the program for the first Women’s Football Writers Festival and we’ll be making announcements all this week.

The program will feature keynotes from three leading writers on the themes of books, media and digital. There will be lively panels on each of those themes; creative and provocative presentations from people and organisations; and interviews with some very special guests. All in all a program chock-a-block with great personalities and engaging content all focused on active practitioners in women’s football writing and content.

First of all, let’s introduce our keynote speakers.

Books

Fiona Crawford is the co-author of the ground-breaking book about women’s football in Australia “Never Say Die: the 100 Year Overnight Success of Australian Women’s Football”. She is currently working on a new book about the participation of The Matildas in FIFA Women's World Cups.

Media

Sam Lewis is one of Australia’s leading football writers. She is a digital sports journalist at the ABC with a main focus on women’s football and the Australian game. She also makes up part of the The Far Postpodcast crew.

Digital

Marissa Lordanic is the driving force and co-host of the fun and irreverent podcast The Far Post, freelance writer for outlets including ESPN, Optus Sport and a commentator for Football Victoria’s women’s NPL match coverage.

We also have some very special international guests whose identities we will be revealing over the next few days.

This is THE pre-match event for all women’s football writers and creatives, fans, players and administrators who will be in Canberra on 12 April.

This event will give the women’s football community:

  • the chance to engage and interact with the people you love reading and listening to

  • the chance to catch up with the network of women’s football supporters

who should attend:

writers and readers, fans, administrators, players, referees, coaches and

everyone who cares about and is excited by women’s football
