Onside Mentoring Profile: Bronny & Kerry

Onside Mentoring provides a facilitated approach to mentoring for game-changing female leaders aiming to make a difference in football. Over the next few months, we will profile our 2022 mentees and their mentors - this month we meet Bronny and Kerry.

Bronny is a volunteer administrator for a State Federation with a professional job as a physiotherapist. She is passionate about the opportunities for program development within football and aims to upskill her competencies in several areas. She is seeking guidance with project management and structure, developing networks with policy decision-makers and building partnerships that share and support the value of women’s football at all levels. Her strengths include interpersonal skills, communication, organisation, and the ability to solve problems through analysis and critical thinking.

Bronny is being mentored by Kerry, a highly qualified Executive Director specialising in strategy, governance, financial literacy and accounting. She has an impressive long-standing involvement in the women’s sport, extensive networks and lived experience.

Kerry and Bronny are working through Bronny's goals, including

  • developing her confidence to translate her passion and skill set into tangible outcomes for others,

  • learning to narrow her focus during the mentoring process to achieve more significant long-term goals and

  • utilise the opportunity to assess the potential for transitioning her career in a new direction.

The overall outcomes for Bronny while working with Kerry as her mentor involve establishing a new female football hub in her city by creating a "network of influence" and producing a policy statement on the value of women in leadership and decision-making roles in football.

Kerry’s role as a mentor is to engage with Bronny regularly to challenge, stimulate and provide constructive feedback on the goals they’ve set in their Agreement for the relationship.
