Free HEADSAFE Events in Melbourne: Exciting Opportunity for Coaches

Women Onside is pleased to share an exciting opportunity for coaches, educators, and football enthusiasts to learn from HEADSAFE, a globally recognised leader in research on sports-related brain health risks. This UK-based group will be in Melbourne from November 17th to 30th, hosting a series of free in-person and online workshops. HEADSAFE’s expertise focuses on minimising risks associated with repeated head impacts in sports, especially in activities like heading in football, tackling in AFL, and rugby. The workshops will provide valuable insights for everyone passionate about safeguarding player welfare and will feature the latest research on chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), a brain disease linked to repeated head injuries.

Why Attend?

HEADSAFE has designed educational programs that empower coaches to make informed decisions regarding heading and other contact practices in training. The group has extensive experience working with clubs across all levels, from the English Premier League to grassroots sports, equipping coaches and players with strategies that enhance player safety without compromising the essence of the game.

Their Melbourne visit will include presentations at the ACHPER Teachers’ Conference at Monash University, as well as workshops hosted at several local football clubs. For those outside Melbourne or unable to attend in person, HEADSAFE will offer online Zoom sessions, ensuring that coaches across Australia can benefit from these workshops.
